Music festival season is upon us! Coachella is in full swing (sadly I'm not there to see Queen B and the yodeler kid), and Stagecoach starts next weekend. Whether you're a first time festival rookie or an aficionado, I'm here to give you the low-down on festival fashion trends and outfit inspiration. If you don't have any music festivals in your future, these ideas are still perfect for a regular music concert or just wanting to rock a cute new style.
Although I have a passion for fashion (excuse the alliteration) and run a fashion blog, I'm just a normal 23-year-old girl/side-job hustler trying to figure out how to style on a budget. My look is entirely made up of pieces I already own, meaning you don't have to splurge to find a cute outfit. Can I get an Amen?!
So, what should you look for when styling a festival look? Here's my biggest tip: the Boho style is always ALWAYS on trend for music festival season. Go boho and you can't go wrong!
I started styling my look by choosing my focal point piece, aka the Molly Green Star Wrap Dress (similar below). I knew I wouldn't want to wear a dress to a music festival so I decided to use it as a kimono. I unwrapped the dress and let it drape over my shoulders with a loose front tie. Once I had my focal point and colors picked out, the rest of the styling became very easy. I threw on a basic black tank top and distressed black skinny jeans* to go under my kimono. I finished off my look with layered necklaces, a Lucky Brand cuff, my favorite Lack of Color hat, Steve Madden white booties**, and a cute pair of sunnies.
Just like that you are styled and ready to look like any fashion blogger out there! If I was really going all out I might even throw on some face jewels or temporary body tats (because when in Rome, am I right?).
*Subbing a cute pair of denim shorts for jeans will work better for warmer temps.
**Ditch the heels for a comfy pair of sandals, espadrilles, cow boy boots, or sneakers.
