Our Engagement Story

As a little girl you always dream about how it'll happen, maybe it'll be on the coast of a beautiful sandy beach or over a candlelit homemade dinner. Never did I picture my dream happening on a snowy day in April standing 6,000 feet high on top of a mountain. Thinking about the scene still gives me goosebumps. I knew Kevin was a romantic, but even he couldn't have planned the snow.
Here's a little back story on our relationship... I met Kevin almost five years ago in Nashville, Tennessee. I was in-between colleges and spending a year living with my sister in the city. We met the summer I was moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for college. I wasn't looking for a relationship and especially not interested in doing long distance, but for whatever reason Kevin convinced me to change my mind (it was probably his mad piano skills). We dated long distance for two years, and after graduating I officially made Nashville my home. Now after four and a half years he asked me to be his forever, and I said YES!
Back to the more important story — OUR ENGAGEMENT! My family likes to vacation on Roan Mountain in North Carolina. We went up there to spend Easter weekend together with Kevin's family. On Saturday afternoon, Kevin and I planned to take photos for my blog at the top of the mountain so naturally I was dressed for the occasion (good thinking Kev). However, we didn't plan for snow in April. We hiked to the top of the mountain along with my sister and Kevin's brother. Once at the top, I got into blogger mode ready to take photos (i.e. photo above) in the beautiful snow, but then Kevin jumped in and started saying some sweet things that I don't honestly remember because I knew it was THE MOMENT. I was so surprised that I continued to say "what" over and over again until I finally found the ability to nod yes. That was a good enough answer for Kevin to put a ring on it. It was the most perfect day of my life and can't even imagine how much better our wedding will be.
We like to say the snow was Kevin's father's blessing to us from heaven, which makes it even more magical and special. I can't wait to become Mrs. Hutchens (cue the butterflies)!
Forever began April 20, 2019.
