Spreading Her Roots: Midnight Bandits
Updated: Mar 17
A small town girl falls in love at first sight, jumps on the back of a Harley, and rides off into the sunset with the mystery man of her dreams. Is this a common fairytale story? Maybe, but Alex Stern turns this everyday tale into her own fearless rendition in the music video for her song “Runaways” from her “Midnight Bandits” EP.

Alex says she likes to imagine a music video in her head when writing songs. The music video is set in Tucumcari, New Mexico, right off the old Route 66. As a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alex proudly showed off the beauty of her home state, giving her video a taste of authenticity.
After attending two Grammy Camps in Los Angeles and Nashville, the singer-songwriter moved to Nashville to devote her time to songwriting and refining her artistry. Alex says her parents persistently reminded her that she could do anything she wanted to do.
“You get to decide what your life looks like,” Alex says.
This has become the brand, lifestyle and purpose for her artistry. She believes her purpose is to share her story through music and to show young girls not to be afraid of pursuing their dreams whatever their background or circumstances.
I recently sat down with Alex to catch up with her and learn more about her journey. As a female creative with an unconventional dream, her story speaks to my heart; I often have fears that create limitations and hold me back from pursuing my purpose. However, after spending time with Alex and her motivational spirit, I was eager to work harder to reach my goals.
“Literally go 200 miles per hour at whatever you are doing,” she says.
Her journey recently took her to Dallas, Texas, to perform for the Dallas Cowboys’ official pregame show. She performed a 14-song set of Christmas songs, songs from “Midnight Bandits,” a few newly written songs and some of her favorites from artists, including “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. Alex says it was a surreal moment getting to sing for a team she loves, performing in front of her parents for the first time, appearing on a jumbotron and sharing her story with hundreds of fans.

I believe Alex is a true inspiration and representation for all Lashville women. In the coming year, Alex plans to devote her time to connecting with her fans through social media and looks forward to releasing new music on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
